Virtual Tours
Elchies Farm
ScotlandThe Scottish Living lab is working with farmers and relevant agricultural organisations to understand the role of digital tools and platforms on small and medium-sized farms, both in terms of farming activities and diversified activities such as farm shops, tourist accommodation and educational workshops. The demonstration farm – Elchies Farm, is in Speyside, North-east Scotland. The farmers run a herd of Boer goats and a small flock of pedigree sheep. The fully automated '24 hour' farm shop provides a connection between a wide range of Scottish producers and the local community. This interactive virtual tour will give you a flavour of what Elchies farm is like and show you the range of digital tools and platforms used by the farmers. These include technologies related to animal husbandry, such as temperature monitors, an on-farm weather station, and webcams used to monitor the animals’ health and welfare. The virtual tour also showcases the farmers’ use of a wide range of social media platforms to promote themselves and their activities, and their use of online selling platforms to promote and market products from the farm.
Bekas Nature Farm
EstoniaBekas Nature Farm is located in Ziemeļgauja, a protected landscape area, in Latvia. The farm raises grass-fed beef, manages semi-natural grassland habitats, and provides a seminar centre that teaches how to manage grassland for biodiversity conservation. Here, digital solutions, such as drone-based surveys, serve as decision-support tools for managing EU-valuable grasslands.
ILVO Farm
BelgiumILVO is the Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, an independent public research organisation in Belgium that develops knowledge and innovations for more sustainable agriculture, fisheries and agri food systems.
Bromil Farm
Czech RepublicBromil is a demonstration fruit farm that showcases digital tools and smart technologies for sustainable orchard management, affiliated with the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.
AgDiBi Farm
GermanyAs part of the first Smart Farming Field Day organized by AgDiBi and 5G-PreCiSe, more than 100 prospective farmers gained insights into digital technologies supporting farm fertilization processes at seven learning stations. The field day focused on the following key questions: How practical are digital technologies in the field of fertilization? How can different digital technologies be integrated into the fertilization process? What agronomic added value do digital technologies offer in crop production? The seven learning stations were supervised by staff from the Ihinger Hof, the Böblingen agricultural local office and the 5G-PreCiSe research project, as well as by private consultants and representatives of the agricultural machinery industry. At the stations, participants were introduced to technologies and software applications for documentation, data transmission, biomass mapping, and the precise application of fertilizers.
